Award Winning Volunteering

jake.JPGJake Fletcher, of York College, and Sarah Brookes of Askham Bryan College received high praise and commendation for their dedication to charity work.

Jake volunteered in St. Catherine’s Hospice Shop in Pickering, where his responsibilities varied greatly. From ensuring the shop remained tidy and welcoming to customers, to being a customer service assistant running the till, Jake loved volunteering.

“Jake’s enthusiasm has been excellent; he is very keen and wanting to learn more. He is a pleasure to work with. He is always pleasant and is a joy to have working in the Hospice Shop environment.” Sarah Bayes, Manager of the Pickering-based Hospice Shop.

Sarah Brookes worked as an Animal Care Assistant at the York RSPCA animal home, where she’d support Animal Care workers and veterinary surgeons.

“Sarah has shown an amazing amount of enthusiasm and commitment. She has always worked well beyond what was requested of her. She will continue to volunteer for us after her course and is a valued asset to the Animal House.” Valerie Hurst, York RSPCA.
