Business students use their skills to raise over £2,000 for charity

Since the start of the academic year, students studying Business courses at York College have raised more than £2,000 for charity.

Having organised a variety of fundraising events in aid of several charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Help for Heroes, Cancer Research and Cry in the Dark, the Business students worked in teams arranging a coffee morning, an afternoon tea, a raffle, bake sales, beauty waxing challenges and a football competition.

Salvatore Petruso, Head of Business at York College said: “I am immensely proud of the students and their fundraising efforts. They have applied their skills to great effect, raising a considerable sum of money for worthwhile causes. As part of their coursework they have been able to plan events and realise the importance of working and communicating as a team. This experience will be helpful as they progress to higher education, higher apprenticeships or employment.”
